Grayling uses a couple hypoallergenic base metals in our pieces, you're sure to find a material and finish that suits you! We use brass, stainless steel, and titanium.
All of our 14k Gold Fill and Gold Plated jewelry uses brass as the base metal. Brass is lighter than steel and is used on many of our fine pieces. Click here to shop all pieces with a brass base.
All of our Body Jewelry including our Flat Back Earrings and Nose Screws and Rings are made with ASTM F136 implant-grade titanium. These are completely hypoallergenic and safe for sensitive skin, it is very rare to have an allergy to titanium. That's why this material is safe to use in facial piercings as well as your ears. Many of our classic layering chains use 316L surgical grade stainless steel as their base. Steel is a very affordable and sturdy metal that is corrosion resistant. The "L" in the stainless steel code stands for "low carbon," which makes it more corrosion resistant than 316. Stainless Steel does not rust or tarnish. All of our Solid Gold pieces are 14k Gold. Per U.S. Gold standards 14k gold is about 58% gold and 42% alloyed metals such as copper, silver, and zinc. For 14k Solid Gold pieces click here.
