Think of putting in flat backs as the opposite of how you would put int standard butterfly back studs. With the standards studs, you put the earring through the front of your piercing and then slide the back on. If you have a hard time getting your flat backs in, try our Flat Back Stud Applicator + Insertion Tool. This tool is best compatible with lobe and outer cartilage piercings, use discretion when inserting into other piercings.
For flat backs, you will put the backs in through the back of your piercing, and then slide the "front" into the hollow post and and squeeze together to secure the flat back earring. Grayling carries flat backs that are known in the industry as threadless, as they are not internally threaded flat backs that require screwing in the front to the flat back post backing. So, in order for Grayling's flat backs to stay secure in your piercing the post on the front end needs to be bent so it holds tension inside your back.
Please refer to the guide below, for how to assemble your flat back. You may need to re-bend your flat backs if the post was straightened out due to frequently taking on and off. To do this, you would enter your front into the back half-way, like image #2 in the below image, and then gently push the front pin up and bend it, then squeeze the front end in all the way to ensure a snug fit.
Please note if you are frequently removing and installing flat backs, loss of tension can happen and result in loss.
