The short answer is, it depends. It is very important that abrasive jewelry cleaners are NOT used on plated items -- that applies to all plated pieces, no matter where you get them. As an example, the cloth used to clean sterling silver has an embedded mild abrasive in it, and it will remove and score (or abrade) all plated products. When it comes to our 14K Solid Gold, 14K Gold Fill or .925 Sterling silver pieces, or any gold fill/sterling silver jewels, Polishing Cloths are miracle workers. Sunshine-brand jewelry polishing cloths, in particular, are amazing. They have a polishing compound embedded in the cloth that helps to restore shine to sterling silver and gold-filled items. Gently rub to remove tarnish and wipe clean with a soft fabric or towel -- no need to rinse.
As an added bonus, the sparkle from a polishing cloth can last through months of frequent wear. A single cloth can also be reused many, many times. They're great to have around for simple touch-ups or full-on cleanings. Again, these should not be used on any plated pieces, including those from our Fashion Collection.
